Douglas Eugene WagstaffDouglas Eugene Wagstaff, Sr., 74, passed Monday, August 17, 2009 at Promise Hospital in Nederland, TX. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 am at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee and visitation will be Tuesday at 5 pm.

Doug was preceded in death by parents, Tom Andrew Wagstaff and Cassie Mae Whitton Wagstaff. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ozro, Jewel, Talmadge, Ted Paul and sisters Eva Worsham, Florene Smith and Yvonne Nash. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Betty Jo Hare Wagstaff of Port Neches; son Douglas E. (Gene) Wagstaff Jr. of Dallas; daughters Marlys and her husband Dan Hughes of Houston, Marilyn Wagstaff of Nederland and Mitzie and her husband John Sanders of Sulfur, LA. Doug is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Sarver, John D. Hughes, Bryan K. Hughes, Jessica Sanders, Hayley Sanders, Lindsey Sanders and Trevor Vincent; great grandchildren Kayla Sarver of Houston and Brandon Sarver of Buna as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Doug was raised in Buna, TX and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a long time resident of Port Neches and was employed by Reagent Chemical Research Inc. for nearly forty years before retiring.

Pallbearers will be John Hughes, Rusty Reynolds, Andrew Wagstaff, Brandon Day, Forrest Carson and Brent Day. Douglas Eugene Wagstaff Sr.

Mrs. Wagstaff, Gene and family- I was so sorry to of Mr. Wagstaff passing. I will always remember him fot the velvetta cheese fudge he made!!!! Just could not bring myself to eat it, even though everyone swore it was yummy! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
