Funeral services for Bertha Lou Hooks, 93, of Milam formally of Spurger will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger.
Visitation will begin 5:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Ms. Hooks died August 26, 2009 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She was a retired cafeteria worker at Spurger I.S.D. and a lifelong resident of Spurger.
Mrs. Hooks was also a member of First Baptist Church Spurger.
She was one of fourteen children.
Mrs. Hooks was preceded in death by husband Oscar Kyle Hooks, and children Emma Lou Perkins and James Art Hooks.
Survivors include son George Hooks of Spurger; daughters Barbara Clark of Vidor and Deborah Pennington of Milam; two sisters, Sally Jeffcoat of Beaumont and LeLa Mae Griffith of Nederland; two brothers, Jim Hicks of Kirbyville and Sonny Hicks of Woodville and eighteen grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren and eighteen great, great, grandchildren.
