Raymond Maynard Thompson Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1924 - 2009 Funeral services for Raymond Maynard Thompson, 85, of Lumberton will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson died September 11, 2009 at Village Creek Rehab and Nursing Center in Lumberton. A native of Altus, Oklahoma, Raymond was a long time resident of Beaumont and had recently moved to Lumberton. He proudly served his country with the Army and Navy. He was a retired machinist. Survivors include stepdaughter Judy Glenn of Lumberton; stepson Morris Wayne Dean of Houston; brothers Kenny Thompson and wife Wanda and Jim Thompson all of Altus, Oklahoma and Donald Thompson of Hampton, Virginia; sister Carrie Martin of Dalhart, Texas; grandsons Tim Grubbs and wife Laura and Koice Grubbs, Jr. and great grandsons Damian and Bryan Grubbs.

I HAD ONLY BEEN MR. THOMPSON'S NURSE FOR TWO WEEKS BEFORE HIS PASSING, BUT IN THAT SHORT TIME I THINK THAT WE HAD MADE A CONNECTION. I WOULD GO INTO HIS ROOM EVERY SPARE MINUTE AND TALK TO HIM. TRYING TO GET HIM TO EAT. HIS LAST REQUEST FROM ME WAS TO BRING HIM A CHICKEN FRIED STEAK FROM BROUSSARD'S ON DOWLEN STREET IN BEAUMONT AND HE PROMISED THAT HE WOULD EAT FOR ME. UNFORTUNATELY, HIS TIME CAME BEFORE I COULD MAKE IT TO WORK ON FRIDAY. MY LOSS AND YOUR LOSS IS HEAVEN'S GAIN. JUDY, HE LOVED YOU DEARLY. I HEARD IT IN HIS VOICE THE NIGHT OF THE GUMBO FAMILY DINNER. HE DIDN'T EAT IT. BUT HE WAS IN SUCH JOY BECAUSE YOU CAME TO SEE HIM. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY AS YOU GO THROUGH THIS TIME. GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU. MARY GREGORY
