Funeral services for George Elvin Ponder Sr., 73, of Kountze, will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. A 2:00 pm graveside committal will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ponder died October 21, 2009 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

A native of San Augustine, Mr. Ponder was a lifetime resident of Hardin County. He was a Bail Bondsman and proudly served his country in the US Army.

George was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Mattie Lou Bland Ponder, son Ricky Ponder and brother Jack Ponder.

He is survived by sons George Elvin Ponder, Jr. and wife Talisa of Thicket and Gary Frank Ponder of Pearland; daughter Kimberly Ann Ponder and fiancé Matthew Peeples of Pearland; step-sons Bryan Harvey of Montana and Ray Harvey of Silsbee; sisters Bobbie Walton and husband Marlin, Vonnie Stover and husband Ervil, Phyllis Andrews and husband Charles, Mary Lou Stringer and husband Preston, and Rhonda Kay Dickerson and husband David; brothers James Earl Ponder, Lamar Ponder and wife Colleen, T. L. Ponder and wife Sheila, Phillip Ponder and wife Linda and Marvin Ponder and wife Sherry. Mr. Ponder is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Uncle elvin was like a grandpa to me we use to work and work on his old boat and soon as we got it fixed the next time he came to see me we were goin to go fishing but were never able to make it to the lake I miss my uncle and every day I wish he was still here and some times when I come home I just been wishin I would see his lil danger ranger with that green boat behind it I will see you again one day unc I love you and always will :'( :'(
