Funeral services for Max M. Zeller, Jr., 83, of Kountze, will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Knupple Cemetery. Reverend Chuck Willis will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, December 20 at the funeral home.
Mr. Zeller died on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after a short struggle with cancer.
Born in Silsbee, Texas August 27, 1926, Mr. Zeller was a longtime resident of Silsbee and Kountze. Max Zeller was a former police officer with the Silsbee Police Department and a retired foreman with Kirby Lumber Company. He and his wife Julia operated a store at the Tram Road Flea Market in Beaumont.
Mr. Zeller was preceded in death by the bride of his youth and mother to his children, Jean Gibson Zeller, son Dale Zeller, parents Max and Nellie Zeller, stepmother Doshie Zeller, sister Vernez Nichols Miller, brothers Ray Zeller, James Zeller and Jake Zeller.
Survivors include his wife Julia; sons Chuck Zeller and wife Dixie and Mike Zeller; daughter Pam Overstreet and husband Clyde; brother Frank Zeller; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
