Ora Sherrill Powell, 91, of Fred, Texas, died on June 8, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar A. Powell of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of South Side Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where she lived for most of her life. The daughter of David Meeks Sherrill and Emily Abigail Slater Sherrill, she was born in Waldron, Arkansas, one of seven sisters, four brothers, and four half-sisters. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Darryl Smith (the former Nina Sue Powell) of Fred, Texas, and Beverly Karen Powell of North Little Rock, Arkansas, one grandson, David Scott Worthen of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, one granddaughter, Mrs. Joe McVay (the former Patti Carol Worthen), also of Pine Bluff, one great-granddaughter, Kristi Lynn Worthen of Fred, Texas, one great-grandson, David Stephen Worthen of Pine Bluff, and her sister, Opal Irene Phillips of Star City, Arkansas.
A private memorial service for the immediate family was held in Silsbee Texas, on June 11, 2010. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorials in her honor be made to The Humane Society.
