James E. (J. E.) Smith, Jr.Funeral services for James E. (J. E.) Smith, Jr., 86, of Beaumont will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Knupple Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died November 6, 2010 at his residence in Beaumont.

J. E. was a native of Silsbee and a longtime resident of Beaumont. He was a retired salesman with the Morton Salt Company and a member of the Silsbee Masonic Lodge. J. E. was a past commodore of the Beaumont Yacht Club and he proudly served his country during WWII with the US Army.

Preceded in death by his wife Mary Evelyn Smith and son Ronnie Lee Smith. Survivors include daughter Mary Renolyn Smith of Beaumont and nephew Noel Cowart and wife Barbara of Houston.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers for the kindness and compassion shown to Mr. Smith during his final days.
