Alta Ruth Gilmore Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1932 - 2011 Funeral services for Alta Ruth Gilmore, 78, of Columbus, Texas will be 10:30am Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will begin 5:00PM Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the funeral home. Mrs. Gilmore died February 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Survivors include husband Leston Gilmore; one son Dean Gilmore of Wharton; one daughter Shirley Karr and husband Jim of Columbus; three sisters Gladys Cummingham, Mittie Richardson and Nettie Patel all of Silsbee. Mrs. Gilmore lived for her six grandchildren; Anthony, Regina, Ryan, John, Scott and Angel but most of all she enjoyed her five great grandchildren; Isabelle, Mattie, Samuel, Zachary and Noah. She also loved traveling with her sisters. Mrs. Gilmore lived in Houston for 45 years before retiring in Brenham.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Gilmore on several occasions. She was always such a lovely person. Our last time to share a special occasion was the the decication of her great grandson Noah, as he is my grandson. For those who do not know me I am Regina's mother in law. I will miss seeing her this weekend as we share in Noah's second birthday party. I know she will be celebrating in Heaven with us. YOU WILL LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER AND NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

I was blessed a few times by getting to spend time with Alta she always had a smile when I was with her and a very kind heart. She always made sure you were comfortable and had plenty to eat and drink. For those of you who do not know me, I'm Robert & Ernestine's youngest daughter Karen. May the Lord touch you all during this difficult time.
