What a glorious day it was for all when Grandpa, John D Self, married Helen. From the night they met, she lovingly prepared home-cooked meals, helped him "see" by guiding him whenever they were together, and doted on his every need. She did so with love and respect - the kind that comes from knowing about the needs of people as they age. Helen knew that years don't define a person, instead their deeds, faith, and the kindness they bestow on others reveals their heart's desire. Both Grandpa and Helen lived with former spouses - deceased when they met - and they gave to each other the important things they learned over their years of marriage: lots of love and tons of trust. The extended Self family saw happiness return to Grandpa's eyes after he met Helen, the first happiness we saw since Grandma Ruby's death. We were and are still so grateful for the role she played in the Self clan. She was a special wonder to us all and we know she is living it up in Heaven as she did on Earth! God Bless Helen and Greandpa they are home with the Lord at last.

I am so sorry to hear of Miss Helen's passing from her earthly home, but I know she is celebrating with her Lord! She was such a sweet person and no matter where she was she always had a smile and pleasant words to share! She will be greatly missed!
