On March 28, 2011, Kevin Richard Long died in Silsbee, TX at the age of 51 years.
He was born in New York in December 1959. His adoptive parents were Hugh and Hildegard Long, who preceded him in death. Surviving him were his sister and nieces.
Kevin lived life on his own terms. He was a friend to many people and a man with a heart as big as Texas. He always tried to help his friends and he tried to forgive his enemies.
Kevin was married three times, to Sonya M. Long, Paula Roberts Long and Catherine Rudd Long, whom he was separated from at the time of his death. His friend, Evelyn Haynes, was with him at the time of his passing.
During his marriage to Paula Long, there were children born. One died in infancy and there are four children living that he considered his. They are Ashley C. Roberts, Belinda F. Long, Kevin R. Long, Jr. and Cameron Long. All are over 18 years of age and lived away from this area. Due to family issues, Kevin was never able to maintain a relationship with them as he would have wanted but they were always loved and never far from his thoughts.
At the time of his death, Kevin was developing a passion for farming and working his farm in hopes of it becoming a successful commercial agricultural enterprise.
Services were held for Kevin at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee and he was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont on April 5, 2011.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
