1934 - 2011
Edward Dominguez died at his home in Silsbee, TX. He was born March 18th, 1934, to Gilbert and Consuelo Dominguez in Silsbee.
Edward earned degrees--both a BS in Geology and a BS in Civil Engineering-- from Lamar University and was the resident civil engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation for 45 years. He retired in 1994.
Edward's life represented all that exemplifies the devoted and understanding servant in both the spiritual and the secular community realms. He instinctively understood that for people to truly thrive, they need substantial footing in both realms. In fact, Edward did not make any distinctions in dealing with his responsibility to his fellow man and his community, as is evidenced by his involvement in his church, specifically St. John's Episcopal Church, and his service to the immediate town of Silsbee through his service on the Silsbee School District Board of Trustees and his volunteer services to the community which included, among other projects, the building of tennis courts for the students.
He enjoyed the outdoors, both in his work and hobbies. He loved to garden and share his crop with others.
He also showed us how to enjoy retirement and explore new interests and passions. He began fly fishing, traveling to several states and other parts of the world for the best fishing spots. He loved his travels not only for the fishing but for meeting new people. He loved to share his stories of the people he encountered on his travels.
Edward was baptized in Toluca, Mexico, the home town of his father, Gilbert Dominguez. He always had an appreciation of his heritage and continued to visit Mexico throughout his life. He had a great love for the family members in Mexico and a special bonding with his aunt Cari. He recently celebrated a wonderful reunion with of all the family relatives in San Miguel, Mexico.
Edward and his wife Teresa proudly celebrated their 50th anniversary in October 2010. His greatest pride was his two children, Angela and Mark-Edward. He set an example of hard work and determination for his children and they have followed in his footsteps.
His brother Gilbert and his parents, Gilbert and Consuelo Dominguez preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter, Angela Barber and husband Mike of Argyle; son, Mark-Edward and wife, Wendy of Keller; sister, Celia Coleman of Beaumont; brother, Cesar and wife Edna of Silsbee; sister, Carmen Read and husband Edwin of Lake Jackson and 13 nieces and nephews and their wives and husbands, all for whom he had a great fondness. He always made sure he attended all their weddings and remembered them at special family get-togethers.
Edward had a personality of his own, always sharing his stories and an occasional joke which he punctuated with his loud laugh, always sharing his view. He leaves a tremendous heritage for all of us who seek to combine the true sense of commitment and the enthusiastic embracing of life---and lives---at every stage of life.
A memorial service for Edward will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. John's Episcopal Church. The family will accept visitors from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday at Farmer Funeral Home.

Teresa and Family, Edward will truly be missed. I will miss his humor and that terrific laugh. I worked with Edward at TxDOT for 13 years before he retired. I looked forward to the Christmas dinners so I could visit with Edward. After my retirement I saw Edward often in Lowe's. I pray for your strenght in the days to come. May God Bless each one of you. When you feel the gentle breeze on your face know it is Edward. Sincerely, Vickie and Jerry Duke.
