Thelma Doris Matthews, 85, of Silsbee, died June 24, 2011 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Born in Vidor, Mrs. Matthews was a long time resident of Silsbee. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Matthews, son Charlie Matthews and brother J T 'Sonny' Dockens.
Survivors include son Tony Matthews of Lumberton; daughters, Margaret Burdette of Silsbee, Sue Burt of Silsbee, Joyce Beaver of Silsbee, Nell Work of Kountze and Jodie Starnes of Lumberton; brother Bobby Dockens of Anahuac; sisters Norma Knupple of Anahuac, Jimmie Lee Chandler of Anahuac, Reva Fountain of Oak Island, Mary Frances Chandler of Houston and Florence Maddox of Houston; twenty one grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren and eighteen great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
