I am without words, can't stop crying. I always considered Doris Jean as my other daughter. I loved her dearly. She was supposed to have lunch with me while she was here. Now I know why I never heard from her. To her family- what a wonderful, precious, special individual she was. I always looked forward to her e-mails. I'm sorry that I didn't know sooner, but I read Christine's blog today about the necklace. I will always cherish the beautiful red headed girl with the infectious smile and sense of humor, the beautiful voice. MUCH LOVE TO ALL OF YOU. Hilda

There is a lot to say about Mrs. Skaar, all good of course.I had her in 6th grade fith hour she always (well almost always) had a smile on her face lighting up the room or crappy day some kids were having. When I found out the news I was devestated. I could've never had thought this could happen to her. She was lost at a younger age than most people. She always made us laugh and was always happy. There are so many words to discribe her, thoughtful, caring, they are the two most characteristics she used the most. I wish I could've known sooner. Blessings to you all who are suffering.

Doris and I were classmates in Jr. and high school. I remember her laughter, her wonderful sense of humor, and her beautiful smile. When we are young we take those attributes for granted. As we grow older, we learn to appreciate those who have shown us, by example, how wonderful life is. Though we had only reconnected through the world of Facebook, I was given yet another opportunity in my life to learn this lesson from her. She loved her sons, adored her husband, proud of her students, tireless teacher, jokester with a kind heart, friend to many. I will miss our virtual banter with one another, I will miss her school year updates and her tales of winter in Illinois. I will miss the laughs and chuckles she offered effortlessly, I will miss her loving words and anecdotes all revolving around her husband and sons-who she obviously cherished. My condolences to her family, I have thought of you all many times this week, taking moments throughout my days to offer peace and healing of heart.

Doris was a wonderful friend who just lit up whatever space she was in! She did not know a stranger and could find something funny almost anywhere. She was smart, talented and loved her family, friends, and students, and they all loved her back! We will miss her so much! Her life was just too short for those of us left without her wonderful smile and fantastic sense of humor!

We got to know the Skarr family when they lived in Williston. They were great to have in this small town. Our son , Russell , was friends with the boys at school and the ball field. Russell was also one of Doris's very first pupils during her student teaching experience. We were very saddened to hear this news. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family.

Doris and I have worked right across the hall from one another for the last two years. Every hour we would share stories or observations, offer advice, make jokes, maybe gossip--just a little. I will miss her so much. Doris's classroom was a go to place for her colleagues and our lunchroom will never be the same without her quick wit, fantastic stories, and that wonderful laugh.

To have a friend such as Doris is a blessing from God. Now I know I have an angel in Heaven looking over us all. She touched so many lives and left us all with her undying spirit to live life to its fullest. Until we meet again, Doris remember you were my friend.

A lot of people live, but Doris had life. Everywhere she went she shared her blessing of life. Doris would assess a situation and develop a plan to make it better. She taught me how to enjoy laughter. I will miss her.
