1923 - 2012

Robert Aron TynesRobert A. Tynes, 88, of Lumberton, Texas passed away on January 2, 2012 in Beaumont, Texas.

He was born on December 31, 1923 in Florien, La. to Oma and Robert Tynes, Sr. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Isabell Hilderbrand, Ruby McComic and Viola Miller; four brothers, A.G., O.C., Mason and Dwight Tynes; and grandson Travis Earl.

Robert, while residing in Beaumont, Texas as a young man, worked at the Pittsburgh Shipyard before being drafted into the army during World War II. He was stationed in Yokohama, Japan as a T-4 Sergeant assigned over an engine rebuild company in the Eighth Army, during the American Occupation of Japan after WWII. After being discharged from the army in 1947, Robert worked for the Texas State Highway Department as a shop foreman in Beaumont, Tx., before retiring and moving to Lumberton.

Robert was known to his family and friends as being able to fix just about anything because of his tremendous amount of knowledge when it came to machinery and mechanical parts. Robert was a Christian and a member of the Woodcrest Methodist Church in Lumberton, Texas.

Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vivian Sandel Tynes; son, Aron Tynes and wife Shelia; daughter, Vineva Earl and husband Bill; grandchildren, Wade Earl, Kate Clinard and Alice Tynes; great grandchildren, Austin Clinard and Kaisha Richard; great great grandchild Hunter Richard.

Robert will be greatly missed by his family and friends but we will only be left behind for a short time. We look forward to this reunion in heaven with Jesus.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm January 5, 2012 at Prospect Methodist Church in Florien, La. with interment following in Prospect Cemetery. Visitation will begin 5:00 pm Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at R. S. Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
