William A. 'Dub' Harrison Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1935 - 2012

William A. 'Dub' HarrisonWilliam A. Dub Harrison passed away July 3, 2012, with his family by his side in Austin, Texas. He was born August 10, 1935 in Terrell to William and Irene Harrison. He attended Terrell High School and entered and served proudly in the US Marine Corps.

He was married to Mary Jane Davis, who attended Vidor schools, on May 24, 1958 and never left her side for 54 loving years.

Dub co-founded and operated a successful drywall business with friend Charlie Sanders. Later in life he would partner with his brother Glenn to continue their successes in Austin, where he settled to retire.

An avid musician, he played guitar, mandolin, and Dobro all primarily in the bluegrass style. He enjoyed following the regional Texas and Oklahoma music scenes with his wife Mary. He and Mary played and sang in a bluegrass band, Country Harmony, with long-time friend Bobby Stem.

Dub is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; brothers and their spouses, Glenn and Laura Harrison, Kenneth and Nancy Harrison, Ronnie and Sandy Harrison; daughter and her spouse, Madeline and Scott Alsip, son and his spouse, Michael and Margie Harrison, daughter and her husband, Melinda Leasure and Luis, sons Matthew Harrison and Marty Harrison; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

God has been good to Dub and Mary. They have a family more wonderful than they could ever hope for. We thank you, our Lord and Heavenly Father, for all your blessings on our family.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at R S Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Services will be 3:00 pm Friday, July 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Guests are invited to attend graveside with the family at Davis Cemetery in Kirbyville.

Dub was a great guy. Even as a child, I thought that he was "cool". My fondest memory of Dub was hearing him and my Dad sing together at those wonderful Saturday night get togethers that we used to have. He will be missed.
