Ava West was born October 15, 1923 in Old Salem TX. She left this world on May 19, 2014. She was one of ten children born to Bennett and Rena West.
Ava married Hal Arlan May 29, 1954. She lived the last 35 years in Silsbee and was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Silsbee. Ava was a loving and caring child, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She greatly enjoyed hosting her weekly game nights. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous spirit.
Ava is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Ruth West, Ruby Lee West Brazier, Owen Bennett West, Dovie West Wilson, Otis West and Lee West and by her loving husband of 33 years Hal Arlan and son Dennis Arlan.
She is survived by her children Robert Arlan and wife Sonia Arlan, Melody Arlan Gerland and husband James E. Gerland, Ames Hal Arlan and wife Karen Arlan, Carol Arlan Colvin and husband Gene Colvin and step daughter Janie Kastner and husband Arthur Kastner as well as siblings Velma Willet, Joel West and Calvin West. Ava was beloved Nana to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Avas life will take place on Friday May 23, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening, 5-8 pm.
