1943 - 2024
Donna Dean Turman Jefferson, 80, of Barboursville, WV, passed peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior on April 1, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Bill Turman; her eldest brother, Paul Turman; and her stillborn baby, Shelly Ann. She is survived by her two daughters, Alison (Dale) Mullins and Angela (Jeff) Ronk; her four grandchildren, Grant and Kyle Mullins; Maggie and Erin Ronk; her sister-in-law, Karen Turman; her brother, Waymond (Peggy) Turman; and many special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend, Gail Mullins, who could always put a smile on her face. Their nightly phone calls and devotions were the highlight of her day. Donna graduated from Barboursville High School in 1961. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1965 from Marshall University’s Teachers College and her Home Economics Education Master of Arts Degree in 1968 from Marshall University’s Graduate School. She taught Home Economics for a couple of years before deciding to become a homemaker full-time after she became a mother. Donna would say that her greatest accomplishment was her two daughters. She was a devoted mother who loved to sew them matching holiday dresses, bake homemade chocolate chip cookies and birthday cakes, and always believed a good shopping trip followed by a good meal could cure any ailment or heartbreak. Donna instilled in her daughters the importance of a good education for their self-worth and independence. She raised her daughters to be self-reliant, and they knew she was proud of their accomplishments. She was a member of Barboursville First United Methodist Church. Her life was dedicated to the Lord and to taking care of her family. Donna was quick to share that God will take care of all your worries and troubles, all you need to do is to hand them over to Him. Her favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". Services will be on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1 pm at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Her brother, Waymond Turman, will be officiating the service. Waymond promised their father that he would always take care of Donna, and as she ends her earthly journey, he will be completing that loving task. A special thank you to the Inn at Wyngate in Barboursville and Donna’s favorite nurse, Vicki Adkins, for taking such good care of her these past few years; and to Donna’s Wyngate friends, she loved meeting you each day to eat and chat at the special dining room table. To Donna’s girls,
I have fond memories of Donna through church and cleaning her house when I was in high school. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Ruth
