Dwight Lee KirbyDwight Lee Kirby, 80, of Glenwood, WV, passed away on September 16, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born February 24, 1944, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Harry Ray and Glenneth Kirby. He was also preceded in death by his sister Doreen Burns and husband Bill Burns, niece Tiffany Lynn Kirby Cremeans and husband Mark, nephew Matthew Burns, and brother-in-law Roger Lee Blake. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 53 years, Linda Blake Kirby, his brother Fred (Judy) of Culloden, WV, sister-in-law Shirley Wolfe (Mike) of Roanoke, VA, brothers-in-law Harlin Blake (Darlene) and Marlin Blake (Jeannie), both of Glenwood, WV, and many nieces and nephews. Dwight was an active member of Lawrence Chapel Church having served as a trustee, class leader and teacher. He retired from American Electric Power with 36 years of service. He was in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years and was a former member of Milton Volunteer Fire Department. Dwight enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing and hunting along with his wife. He loved sitting on his porches looking at God’s beautiful creation, the trees, birds and wildlife, and petting Molly the community dog. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV, 25702 or to the charity of your choice. So sorry Linda. I know you and him both have had a hard struggle. Donald and I will be out of town Saturday so we won’t be able to come to the funeral. Prayers God gives you strength.
