1932 - 2024
Geraldine Cooper, 92, of Milton, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 at home. She was born May 26th, 1932, in Salt Rock, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Lessie Pettry Adkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Cooper; one son, Billy Dwaine Cooper; brothers, Hobart Adkins and Newman Adkins; and sister, Mildred Morrison. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie L. Beaver of Milton; one granddaughter, Ella Boggs and her husband Matthew; and one great-grandson, Matthew Boggs Jr. Geraldine was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, Marshall football enthusiast, and cryptoquip puzzle solver. Her family was her entire world, and she lived her life as close to the Cross as she possibly could. Her biggest life’s work was trying to show others how much Jesus loved them. She was a fervent prayer warrior, and would never hesitate to help or teach others about Christ. She was a Sunday School teacher at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years, and touched many lives of children and adults that passed through its doors. Geraldine was an employee of Owens-Illinois in her young adulthood, a member of the Gideon’s International, and the Milton Eastern Star Chapter #149. The family would like to give a special thanks to Geraldine’s caregivers: Tina, Susan, Aly, Lauren, Dwayne, Hospice of Huntington, and others that have assisted over the last two years. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gideon’s International Living Memorial Bible Fund in memory of Geraldine Cooper. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 194 Dry Ridge Rd. Milton, WV, 25541. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Matthew Boggs and Pastor Mark Hesson. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

As a young child she would take me on her bus ride to her mother's house on the weekend and we would walk that long dark road from the bus stop. Her mother would fix gravy and biscuits. I loved the well water. Just came across this today. My parents rented fro Carl and Mildred above their store in Huntington,
