SMSGT Benny Lee Broyles USAF-Retired, 72, Gallipolis, Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 4, 2004 at his home. He was born March 25, 1932 in Gallia County to the late Harold and Garnet G. Halley Broyles. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in The United States Air Force and was stationed in various locations throughout the world. He proudly served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received numerous decorations and commendations during his service and retired after more than 20 years in 1977. He later retired from Federal Mogul in Gallipolis as Parts Manager. He was a current member of the American Legion, Post 27 and the Elks Lodge No. 107, both of Gallipolis. Surviving are his wife, Donna Lee Cottrell Broyles of Gallipolis, whom he married June 19, 1960; 2 daughters and son-in-laws, Belinda Lee and Randy Jones of Gallipolis; Nikki Lee and Mark Middlestadt of White Marsh, MD; and a son, Christopher Lee Broyles of Joppa, MD. Grandchildren: Hannah, Grace and Ryan Middlestadt of White Marsh, MD. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Benny was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held with full military rites performed by area military volunteers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Samuel L. Bossard Memorial Library, 7 Spruce St., Gallipolis, Ohio 45631, as reading was one of Benny’s favorite pastimes. A Husband, a Father, a Grandfather; a Soldier, a Citizen, a Friend-Benny Broyles will be greatly remembered and missed by his family and friends.
