Jerry Lynn Back Sr., 52, Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly December 6, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. Born October 2, 1952 at Athens, Ohio, he was the son of Eva Rae Akers Back, Gallipolis and the late Verlon Back. Jerry was raised in Logan WV, and was a 1971 graduate of Logan High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he received the Commendation Medal and later was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1975. He later worked 21 years in the Meigs coal mines and was currently the owner/operator of Jerry’s Heating and Cooling of Gallipolis. He is survived by: His mother: Eva Rae Akers Back, Gallipolis, OH Two sons: Jerry (Penny) Back Jr., Sabillasville, MD Kevin Back, Gallipolis, Ohio One Brother: Thomas L. Back, Columbus, OH Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 10, 2004, at White Oak Baptist Church, Nibert Rd., Gallipolis, Ohio with Pastor Carl Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis, Ohio. Full military honors will be conducted by the Gallia County Veteran Services Organizations. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave., Gallipolis, Thursday, December 9, 2004 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. I was sorry to hear about Jerry.We were raised on Mudfork along with his brother Tommy.I can still remember playing ball games at the school hill and down at the bottom.The thing I remember most was the night Jerry got him by a car when we were playing at the company store.May God bless him and comfort the family during this time of great sorry.One of his many Friends--Jerry McAllister and the McAllister family.
