1931 - 2004
Bennie F. Cardwell, 73, of Vinton, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday, Dec. 31, 2004.
Cardwell was born April 11, 1931, in Vinton, son of the late Everett and Cynthia Perkins Cardwell.
He was a retired excavator, dairy farmer and heavy equipment operator, and also a retired school bus driver for the Gallia County Schools. Presently, he was a board member of the Gallia County Rural Water Association, a trustee for the Vinton Memorial Park Association and a member of the Royal Order of the Moose in Pt. Pleasant.
His survivors include three children: Diane (Frank Kirby) Keeton of Vinton; Sharon (Danny) Browning of Vinton; and Cathy (David) Roush of Bidwell. Also, five grandchildren: Brian (Becky) Keeton, of Vinton; Nikki (Paul) Stevens of Bidwell; Tadd Browning of Vinton; and Jessica and Alison Roush of Bidwell. Also, three great-grandchildren: Emily McComas, Kali Greenlee and Riley Stevens, and five sisters: Marie Cardwell of Vinton, Paulene (Homer) Hysell of Pomeroy; Thelma (Fred) Fisher of Vinton; Linda (Guy) Guinther of Gallipolis; and Tina (Richard) Williams of Columbus. Also, a special friend, Lornea Litchfield of Apple Grove, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Harold (Pidge) Werry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home in Vinton with Rev. Marvin Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park.
The board members of the Gallia County Rural Water Association and John Wamsley will serve as pall bearers.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6-9 p.m. Bennie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
