Gladys Marie Maynard, 88, Gallipolis and formerly of Vinton, Ohio, passed away at Holzer Wyngate of Gallipolis on Wednesday, March 2, 2005. She was a retired seamstress for the Haskins-Tanner Clothing Store, Gallipolis, and a member of the Vinton Baptist Church.
Mrs. Maynard was born January 13, 1917, in Louisa, Kentucky, daughter of the late Oliver Wiliam Chapman and Mary Elizabeth Thompson Chapman. She married Adis Maynard Sr., January 11, 1936, in South Williamson, KY and he preceded her in death August 6, 1987. In addition , she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Regina Maynard; a son-in-law, Regina Maynard; a son-in-law, Bernard Holley, five brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by six children: Adis Maynard Jr., Vinton, OH; Fred (Margaret) Maynard, Painesville, OH; Henry Lee (Katie) Maynard, Bidwell, OH; Florida (Albert) Hively, London, OH; Martha Sue Holley, Vinton, OH; Etta Marie (Ralph) Spence, Bidwell, OH; Fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and by two sisters: Etta Chapmen, Huntington, WV and Rose Lawson, Bidwell, OH.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, 2/5/2005, in the Vinton Baptist Church, 11818 State Route 160, Vinton, with Rev. Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Vinton Memorial Park.
