Everett Gene George, 70, of Pomeroy, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
A Vinton High School graduate, he was a retired truck driver, and the former owner/operator of George’s Grocery Store in Vinton.
He was a member of Vinton American Legion Post No. 161 and had volunteered for the Vinton Volunteer Fire Department.
He was born April 30, 1935, in Gallia County, son of the late Ralph and Verna McMillin George.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Brown George, in 1984.
Two daughters survive this union, Kimberly (James) Gibbs and their children, Dustin, Jaime and Devin Gibbs of Vinton, and Tana George of Bidwell.
He married Roberta Lee on Dec. 24, 1992, at Langsville, and she survives with her daughter, Tonya (Tony) King and her daughter, Hanna King of Albany.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home in Vinton, with the Rev. Bill Greene officiating. Burial will be in the Vinton Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Vinton American Legion Post No. 161.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2005.
