Mrs. Lona Luckey Lasseter, age 94, of Buchanan passed away Monday, May 9, 2005. Mrs. Lasseter was born in Haralson County on April 15, 1911. She was the daughter of the late William L. Luckey and the late Lizzie Taylor Luckey. Mrs. Lasseter was a retired book keeper and taught music for many years. She was also a member of the Buchanan First Baptist Church where she played the organ for many years. Mrs. Lasseter was a member of the Haralson County Historical Society, United Daughters of The Confederacy, and was a volunteer “Pink Lady” at Higgins General Hospital for over twenty five years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey D. Lasseter, as well as a number of brothers and sisters.
Survivors include one brother, Len G. Luckey of Tallapoosa; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. from the Buchanan First Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Wilburn and Rev. Asa Mangham officiating. Music will be rendered by Jolaine Sims accompanied by Eddie Hulsey. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jerry Luckey, Carlton Self, Oliver Brown, Carl Brown, Jarrett Knight, and Victor Roberson.
