Mr. Curtis H. Richards, age 76, of Buchanan passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005. Mr. Richards was born in Haralson County on June 14, 1929. He was the son of the late Luther B. Richards and the late Mamie Payne Richards. Mr. Richards was the retired Vice-President of McCalmon Oil Company and member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Georgia. He was also a member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church, Buchanan Lions Club and a past member of the Buchanan City Council. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Morris Richards; one son, Travis Richards; and two brothers, Lawrence Richards and Frank Richards.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Chriswell of Buchanan; one son, Phil Richards of Buchanan; four sisters, Kate Williams of Phoenix, AZ, Mildred Talley of Bremen, Geraldine McPherson of Bremen, and Carmie Dobbs of Felton; one grandchild; two great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. from the Buchanan United Methodist Church with Rev. Robby McMahan, Rev. Mary Lou Gilbert, and Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry, Jordan Murdock, and Bobby Robinson. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jeff Worthy, Mark Bush, Ricky Dobbs, Randy Eaves, Joe Maxwell, Steve Patterson, David Bush, and Wayne Bush. Honorary pallbearers will be Buel Richards, Larry Hutcheson, Danny Hutcheson, Jim Brown, Cheslie Chambers, Richard Russell, Larry Watson, Johnny Smith, and Jimmy Cheatwood.
