Mr. James Elmer Holcombe, age 86 of 145 Ward Mountain Rd., Kingston, formerly of Felton passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006. Mr. Holcombe was born in Haralson County on May 21, 1919. He was the son of the late Clifton T. Holcombe and the late Ida Williams Holcombe. Mr. Holcombe was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was a retired heavy equipment operator. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Price Holcombe; second wife, Essie Fielder Holcombe; two sisters, Colleen McDougal and Sarah Lanier; and one brother, Burl Holcombe.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Stanley Landers of Kingston; two brothers, Hamp Holcombe of Rome and Carlton Holcombe of Villa Rica; two grandchildren, Shanna Landers of Kingston and Jamie Landers of Kingston; and a number of other relatives and special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Danny Hutcheson officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens in Cedartown with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Denver Bishop, George Harris, Vaughn Gable, Jimmy Pope, Charles Young, and Amos Sparks. The Buchanan Masonic Lodge and VFW Post 7402 will be in charge of the graveside services.
