Claude Edward Winters, 88, Rio Grande, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006, in Holzer Senior Care Center, Gallipolis. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran where he served as a Dental Laboratory Technician. For the past fifty years he owned and operated the Winters Building and Supply Center, Rio Grande, where he was also known for marketing his delicious strawberries which were grown on his farm. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the
DAV, Post 53 Cheshire.
Claude was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Meigs Co., Ohio, son of the late Earl T. Winters and Blanche Norris Winters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister: Herschel, Earl Jr., Donald, Elmer Winters and Doris Carson Wood
He is survived by one brother, Carl Winters, Gallipolis, Ohio, one sister, Victoria Jones, Okeechobee, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM., Wednesday, in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Rev. Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Rio Grande. Military Grave Side Rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organization.
