Sylvia Ann Neal, born Nov. 26, 1911, to Lawrence and Ella Mae Johnson of Putnam County, W.Va., fell asleep in Jesus' arms on Oct. 5, 2006, at the age of 94.
Sylvia married Elvin Neal on Oct. 20, 1928. To this union was born eight children, 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Robert of North Fort Myers, Fla., Larry of Port Washington, N.Y., Jack of Porter, and Jerry of Grove City; and by daughters, Lora Mae of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Donna of Estero, Fla.
She is also survived by her brother, Lester of Ocala, Fla.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Elvin, and son, Thomas, and daughter, Patricia. She is also preceded in death by three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and her mother and father as well as eight siblings, two sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law.
Sylvia gave her life to God at the age of 19, and lived for Him all her life. Church became a vital part of her life and Christ her constant companion. She attended Bethel Assembly of God in North Fort Myers, Fla.
Sylvia's other passion was for her family. As a homemaker, she loved raising her own vegetables and cooking her husband's and children's favorite foods.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, from noon to 2 p.m. at Vinton Baptist Church, State Route 160, Vinton, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jerry Neal officiating.
Interment will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be sent to Hope Hospice, 9470 Heath Park Circle, Fort Myers, Fla. 33908.
