On Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, Nancy Shoecraft Bass, departed this life and passed over to enter into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Nancy was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Toledo, Oh., the fourth of five children to the late Ernest and Marguerite Shoecraft. A sister, Ernestine Brent, survives. Preceding her in death were brothers, John, Milton and Melvin Shoecraft..
July 25, 2003, Jerry Bass, beloved husband of 61 years, left this life and his passing created a major void in Nancy’s life. In the union of Nancy and Jerry Bass were three daughters: Nancy (Robert) Tanner, and children: Dr. Robert (Malaika) Tanner and Angela Robinson; Marguerite (Johnathan) Franklin, and children, Blaine (Michele) Gilmore, Matthew Gilmore, Tobi Franklin, Joni Franklin and Tami Franklin; and Gerry Cain with children, Brian (Jennifer) Bass and Nancy Cain.
Surviving are 17 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; special nieces: Elaine Armstrong, Sandra Pleasant and Lori Lafferty and a very dear and close relative and friend, Virginia Garnes. Along with her family, Nancy leaves several cousins, nieces, nephews and treasured friends who will miss her.
Nancy was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Toledo. She was also a member of the first Graduating class of Holzer’ s LPN School of Nursing, Gallipolis and was employed by Holzer Hospital for many years.
Services will be held at Nancy’s home church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, SR 554, Bidwell, OH., at 2:00 PM., Tuesday, November 14, 2006, with Pastor Gene Armstrong officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 12:00 - 2:00 PM. At the Church Burial will be in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
