WILBURN F. LANDERS
Mr. Wilburn F. Landers, long time resident of Carroll County Georgia passed away Saturday; July 30, 2005 after a brief illness following a heart attack. He was born in Randolph County Alabama February 26, 1919 the son of the late Eli Foster and Nora Bell Stamps Landers. He grew up in Alabama, before moving to Carroll County in the early ‘30s, where he farmed. He worked for the CCC during the 1930s and the steel mills in Birmingham, AL before moving to the Atlanta area where he worked with Atlantic Steel from 1949 until the early ‘60s. He returned to Carroll County in 1952, establishing his home resident for the last fifty plus years near Black Jack Mountain. In the early ‘60s he returned to his first love, farming. During the ‘70s he drove a school bus for Heard County. He was a member of Loftin Masonic Lodge #688 Ephesus, Georgia.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers Brooks Landers and James Landers.
Survivors include his wife Mae Landers of Bowdon, GA. Son and Daughter-in-Law Ray (Nina) Landers of Newnan, GA. 6 daughters Frances Farr and Betty Landers of Carrollton, GA. Fairy Wortham of Peachtree City, GA. Shirley Landers and Annette Lee of Atlanta, GA. and Ann Landers of San Deigo, CA. 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Sister Mabel Gibbs of Canton, GA.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday; August 3, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Darryl Hessel officiating. Music will be furnished by Mr. Harold McWhorter. Interment will follow in the Bowdon City Cemetery.
