LELA EASON
Mrs. Lela Gibbs Eason, of Bowdon, passed away on August 30, 2005. She was 88.
She was born on November 12, 1916 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the late Sam and Donie Hanson Gibbs. She was a retired seamstress of Lamar Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Bowdon Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, the Joy Singers, and the Elizabeth Stamps Mission Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Eason on March 19, 2000; six brothers, Sidney, Hershel, Wilson, Gordon, Charlie, and Jessie Gibbs; sisters, Fannie Walker, Vera Hatley, and Hazel Barrett.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James Robert “Jimmy” and Lisa Eason of Sharpsburg, Georgia; granddaughter and husband, Carol and Clete Shadinger of Carrollton, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Caylon, Cashlyn, and C.J. Shadinger of Carrollton, Georgia, brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Earlene Gibbs and Bonnie Gibbs, all of Anniston, Alabama; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Thomas Yates of Anniston, Alabama, Wilma and Grady Jeter of Bowdon, Georgia, Ruth Johnson of Cedartown, Georgia, and Lorena Smith of Bowdon, Georgia; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jane Morris.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eason will be held Friday, September 2, 2005 at 11:00a.m.at Bowdon Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Huggins officiating. Music will be furnished by the Joy Singers, Mrs. Mary Ella Beam and Rev. Benny Boggus, and the congregation. Interment will follow at Community Gardens Cemetery in Bowdon.
