Mr. Oscar David Caldwell, of 1109 Watts Road in Bowdon, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 3, 2005 at his residence. He was 85.
Mr. Caldwell was born on November 29, 1919 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the late David Malachi and Alice Lanier Caldwell. After being honorably discharged from the Army for his service during World War II, he returned homewhere he worked and retired as a machinist from Trintex Corporation. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a church deacon.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Lowry Caldwell; brothers, Roy Caldwell, Earnest Caldwell, and Grady Caldwell; and his sisters, Percy Gentry, Vera Whitman, and Velma Daniel.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Peggy Caldwell of Bowdon, Georgia and daughter and son-in-law, Sara and J.T. Cook of Bowdon, Georgia. Also surviving are grandsons, Mike Cook and David Cook, and great-grandson, Jonathon Cook.
Funeral services for Mr. Oscar David Caldwell will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Bowdon. Rev. Gary Stewart and Rev. Buddy Gentry will officiate. Music will be furnished by Rev. Gentry and Mrs. Petie Stewart.
Pallbearers will be Ken Hyatt, Jimmy Lowery, Stanley Lowery, Gwen Caldwell, Johnny Harrod, W.C. Yarbrough, James Caldwell, and Harvey Gentry. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Prior to the service, Mr. Caldwell’s body will be place in state at the church from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m.
