Rev. Cal Ledbetter age 82 of 9056 County Road 92, Newell, Alabama died Thursday December 1, 2005 in Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, Anniston, Alabama.
He was born in Shelby County Alabama September 27, 1923 the son of the late A.B. and Georgia Daugherty Ledbetter. He was a retired Minister and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. And was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys Ledbetter. 5 brothers Guy, Jesse Lee, Cecil, Dal and Carlos Ledbetter. 3 sisters Ethel Wilson, Clara Gore and Mamie Ledbetter.
Survivors include his wife Alverlene McCord Haynes Ledbetter, Newell, AL. son and daughter-in-law Paul James (Dawn) Ledbetter, Ranburne, AL. daughters and sons-in-laws Geraldine (Tony) Walker, Carrollton, GA. Kathleen (Aaron) Walker, Douglasville, GA. Irine (Steve) Noles, Graham, AL. and Wanda Maxwell, Carrollton, GA. 8 grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren. Sister Pauline Edwards, Heflin, AL.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 3, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. )Georgia Time) from the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Stewart and Rev. Julian Murphy officiating. Eulogy will be given by Teresa Greene. Music will be furnished by Corinth Baptist Church Choir and Petie Stewart. Pallbearers will be Jason Walker, Mike Greene, John Ledbetter, Myles Maxwell, Aaron Walker and Steve Noles. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. He will be at the funeral home until being placed in state at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
