Mrs. Dera Cape age 84 of Oak Grove Church Road, Carrollton Manor, Carrollton, Georgia died Sunday December 25, 2005.
She was born in Cleburne County Alabama March 27, 1921 the daughter of the late Warner and Rosa Cook Whitman. She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Sewell’s.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Cape an infant son a brother Pete Whitman, 3 sisters Myrtle Stogner, Estelle Dukes and Anna Evans.
Survivors include 3 sons and daughter-in-laws Glenn (Retha) Cape, Hollis (Irene) Cape and Steve (Dianne) Cape all of Ranburne, AL. Daughter and son-in-law Rosa (Byron) Spruell of Bowdon, GA. 12 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Brother Garfield Whitman of Bowdon, GA. 2Sisters Maybelle Turner of Bowdon, GA. and Verdie Jeter of Waco, GA. Several Nieces and Nephews and survived by extended family of caregivers at Carrollton Manor.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday December 28, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. from the Mt.View Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Estes, Rev. Tommy Wright and Rev. Kenneth Forsyth officiating. Music will be furnished by the church choir. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery (Cleburne County Alabama)
