Rosemary Woodrum Chapman, 91, of Ona, WV, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on July 26, 2024. Filling our hearts with love, are the memories of you!
“Rosie” was born August 24, 1932 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late William and Mayme Grimes Woodrum. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 1/2 years, Carl A. Chapman, and her beloved sisters, Agnes McComas, Phyllis Pinkerman, Elfreda Rose, Dorothy Bailey and Bonnie Waggoner.
Rosie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Patty Chapman (Huntington, WV) and Rick and Kristine Chapman (Delray Beach, FL); three grandchildren, Joey, and his wife Sarah Chapman, Elizabeth Chapman and Matthew Chapman; and two great grandchildren, Trey and Harper Chapman. She is also survived by two loving, supportive sisters, Gaynell Smith and Emmaline Childers.
Rosie was employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Company for six years. While busy raising her young family, she began a rewarding career as a Dental Assistant, first with Dr. Fred Abraham, and then for over 15 years with Dr. Ronald Midkiff. Even during the busiest of days, Rosie shared her gentle smile and kind words with patients to help ease their nerves.
The Chapman family is grateful to Rosie’s long-time physician, Dr. Shawn W. Coffman, and to everyone at HIMG for the excellent medical care and kindness they gave Rosie. The family also extends their heartfelt appreciation to every nurse, aide, and staff member at Paramount Midland Assisted Living Center in Ona for their compassion and patience, and for all those little acts of love they extended to Rosie to make her smile and to brighten her day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Huntington, WV.
Services will be conducted at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV on Friday, August 9, 2024, with visitation at 11 a.m. and a Celebration of Life service at 12 noon with Reverend Greg Markins officiating.
